What to Expect from the Mini Highland Games
Your group will be split into clans, each with a clan leader, before rotating through a series of traditional Highland Games activities. The session is fully instructor led, with clear explanations, demonstrations, and encouragement throughout.
Teams will compete in caber tossing, wheatsheaf throwing, wellie hurling, axe throwing, and alpine skis, before coming together for a high-energy tug of war finale. Points are awarded along the way, with prizes presented to the winning clan at the end of the event.
The focus is on participation, teamwork, and having fun, making this a brilliant experience for mixed groups of all abilities.
Who the Mini Highland Games are for
Our Mini Highland Games are designed for groups looking for a fun, inclusive, and competitive outdoor experience. With a minimum group size of 10 and the ability to host up to 60 participants, this activity works brilliantly for a wide range of group types.
The experience is particularly popular with stag and hen groups, corporate events and team-building days, travel company bookings, and school groups. Participants are split into clans, creating a strong sense of teamwork and friendly rivalry throughout the event.
Because the games are fully instructor led and adapted to suit all abilities, everyone can get involved and enjoy the experience, regardless of fitness level or previous experience.
Food, Private Hire and Event Add-Ons
To make your Mini Highland Games even more memorable, we offer a range of optional add-ons to suit your group. Food can be arranged if required, with relaxed two-course dining options available on site, ideal for groups looking to socialise after the games.
For corporate events and private groups, our space can also be hired exclusively, providing a great setting for team briefings, presentations, or informal celebrations. To add a traditional Scottish touch, we can arrange a piper for the full event, lasting approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, as well as a Highland dancer to enhance the atmosphere and Whisky Tasting from our partners at Glenkinchie Distillery.
These add-ons can be tailored to your group, helping you build a complete experience around your Mini Highland Games.
Glenkinchie Distillery & Whisky Tasting
We are very proud of our partnership with Glenkinchie Distillery, one of Scotland’s most respected Lowland distilleries. This partnership allows groups taking part in our Mini Highland Games to extend their experience with an optional whisky tasting hosted on site at Wild Cairns.
The whisky tasting is a relaxed and sociable way to finish the day and is particularly popular with corporate events, stag and hen groups, and travel company bookings. It adds a distinctly Scottish element to the experience and works perfectly alongside the competitive nature of the games.
Whisky tastings are available at an additional cost and can be arranged as part of your Mini Highland Games booking.
As Seen on TV
Wild Cairns’ Mini Highland Games were featured on BBC’s Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes, with Robson Green and Mark Benton taking part on site at Whitekirk Hill. The programme showcased our Highland Games experience and the unique group activities we deliver in East Lothian.
Being featured on national television highlights the quality, atmosphere, and appeal of our Mini Highland Games for a wide range of groups, from corporate events and schools to travel trade bookings and private celebrations.
